Design Research On Mumbai : The City of Dreams

At LISAA School of Design Fashion Designing Student has worked with her portfolio Development on the City of Dreams 

Mumbai is a mix of iconic and old world charm architecture, strikingly modern high rises, cultural and traditional structures and what not. Being the cultural capital of India, the city has more to its name.

To start with, Mumbai is about art history, culture, food, theater, cinema,nightlife and a lot more. Not to mention that Mumbai CSMT is one of the famous world sites certified by UNESCO which is at the center of the city. 

She has been very much intrigued by architecture since she was a kid. It has huge windows, giant pillars, stained glasses, carved stones and huge carved wooden doors. Additionally one of the main attractions for her was the Star Chamber which is now the booking office. It is embellished with Italian marble and blue Indian stone. Not only that but there are ornamental iron, grotesques and grills for the ticket office which was built in a unique way.

The architecture around the entire city has been maintained the same way as long as she  can remember. It allows thousands and thousands of people to reach home daily.

Through this collection, she wants to replicate the busy city and its fine intricacies, charisma that keeps her going. The intricacy of the carvings and symbolism for each is what gets her everytime she visits the place. 

Finally this is what she wants to showcase through these silhouettes and want to revive the memory and reminisce of her childhood experience with this place.
