A Whim of Creativity
At LISAA School of Design a Fashion Design Student worked on his Design Collection –
“A Whim of Creativity “.
Every person has their own creative outlook which guides them towards their collection that brings out the best in a designer. Hence, the design process is that thread which ties the creative mindset of a designer to the final line up of their collection. It is indeed a new exploration in every step of the designer’s dream world which they want to implement in the fashion industry.
Every day is a chance towards new possibilities, competitions with clothing design. The term design conceptualisation is not a new term for a designer as it is like a source through which they get a grasp of their knowledge and the research work that they would do to understand their inspiration. A fashion designer uses a combination of fabric, shape, colour, trimming and other aspects to create a specific look within a person. By taking inspiration, one gets to bring out the concept along with the mood derivation as well as the colour and trend board.
From the town of Virudhachalam, the famous Viruthagrieswarar Temple has been taken as an inspiration which was built by one of the great Chola queens, Sembiya Madevi. The stories of that temple have been passed down to generations and implemented the same on the different craft forms in the temple. It is then when this particular inspiration helps in deriving the mood which will further help in transferring this intangible emotion into a tangible idea.
All in all, the designers draw the different perspectives and structures in their notebook or scrapbook whenever they go out and like something along the way. The only reason is that he realizes that he or she is inspired by it and later they present it in a new way through their collection that depicts the inspiration. In this way, when fashion designers create something new, it highlights their creativity which turns into a scrapbook from which they work on concept board, inspiration board, Mood board, etc to focus on their target market to provide a unique design or to fill the gap which is created in the market.
Therefore, the keywords can be turned into motifs and shapes and finally explore a few silhouettes and surface ornamentation to come up with a new line up.
